Truck & Trailer Mechanic

We are currently searching for a diesel truck & trailer mechanic with the ambition to become an ASME certified welder at our Casper WY location!

Address: 3029 Salt Creek Hwy, Casper, Wy

Shift Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Pay Range: $20.00 to $39.00 per hour, dependent on experience.

Skill-based pay rate reviews and potential increases every 6 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform DOT annual inspections and preventative maintenance on chemical tanker trailers
  • Diagnose and repair air brake systems, ABS systems, and suspension components
  • Inspect and repair tanker barrel integrity, baffles, weld seams, and structural components
  • Service and repair valves, manways, gaskets, vapor recovery systems, and discharge systems
  • Perform pressure/vacuum testing and leak detection
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems (if equipped)
  • Conduct aluminum and stainless-steel welding/fabrication as needed
  • Maintain proper documentation of inspections and repairs
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and hazmat regulations
  • Maintain safe shop practices and follow OSHA guidelines

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of heavy-duty trailer or tanker mechanic experience preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT tanker requirements and hazmat regulations
  • Experience working on chemical tankers strongly preferred
  • Welding experience (TIG/MIG preferred for stainless/aluminum)
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in shop/outdoor environments
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)

Physical Demands:

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • With assistance, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and working at heights 4-12 feet.
  • Must be able to fit through a 16" manway.
