Operations Lead

The Operations Lead is responsible for assisting the Facility Manager in the daily operations of the terminal, including assigning tasks to cleaners, assuring tanks are cleaned in a timely and quality manner, and training cleaners on proper cleaning procedures. The Operations Lead also assumes the responsibilities of the Facility Manager in his/her absence.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provides training and development to all cleaners as necessary.
  • Plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures, and recommend improvement in methods, equipment, and working conditions.
  • Supervise, promote, and enforce safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensures that all jobs are completed on time while maintaining appropriate level of quality.
  • Monitors normal housekeeping in the cleaning area on all shifts, and assigns cleaners to perform the cleaning as necessary.
  • Maintains thorough working knowledge of the Company’s contingency plan for the facility.
  • RCRA duties including assisting the Facility Manager in the administration and supervision of all areas of Residual Management.
  • Conducts activities related to waste and water management.
  • Communicates with customers to ensure deadline compliance.
  • Performs the duties of a Tank Cleaner as needed, including properly disassemble, inspect, clean and reassemble tank internally and externally, including vents, valves, clean-out caps, clamps, loading/unloading lines, hoses and other equipment that is to be cleaned as per normal tank cleaning procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience; experience in tank wash, transportation, chemical, environmental services, or related industry experience preferred.
  • Mechanical ability and inclination.
  • Ability to think ahead and plan for scheduling changes and to prepare action plans to achieve results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, decision-making ability, sound judgment, and safety-oriented.
  • Must be able to motivate and possess a strong sense of teamwork.
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English for comprehension of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) chemical information.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products and Internet.
