Position Summary
The Shop Foreman is a dual-functioning role split between hands-on technical execution and operational support for the facility.
Location: On-site at our Louisville, KY facility.
Pay Range: $31.00 to $41.50 per hour
Key Responsibilities
1. Hands-On Technical Execution
- Advanced Diagnostics & Repair: Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and structural failures on tank trailers and ISO containers.
- Tanker & Suspension Service: Perform comprehensive tanker services, complex trailer repairs, and suspension installations.
- Brake Systems: Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy-duty air brake systems.
- DOT Inspections: Efficiently inspect tanks and trailers to strictly align with DOT standards (HM-183 certification preferred).
- Specialized Fabrication: Utilize TIG aluminum, stainless, or carbon welding experience for specialized repairs as required (optional/as needed).
2. Operational Coordination & Managerial Assistance
- Workflow & Scheduling Support: Assist the Facility Manager in executing the daily shop schedule, tracking real-time progress, and adjusting bay assignments to optimize throughput.
- Quality Assurance & Documentation: Review completed work orders on the floor to ensure accurate documentation of parts and labor, facilitating the Facility Manager’s timely invoicing processes.
- Regulatory Compliance Support: Monitor shop floor adherence to NTTC, ASME/National Board, and CFR regulations, immediately reporting anomalies to the Facility Manager.
- Technical Mentorship & Skill Development: Actively coach and develop staff product knowledge; assess junior technicians' skill levels and recommend formal training needs to the Facility Manager.
- Customer Service Support: Assist the Facility Manager by greeting customers, assessing incoming trailer service needs, and gathering technical details to assist management in quoting work.
- Tooling & Supply Management: Monitor shop equipment functionality; review and present requisitions to the Facility Manager when additional tooling or shop supplies are required.
- Safety & Policy Modeling: Model and promote company safety policies, ensuring employees are qualified and safely equipped for their assigned tasks.
Physical Demands & Environmental Conditions
- Lifting: Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Confined Space: Must be able to fit through a standard tank trailer manhole and safely work within confined spaces.
- Environment: Regular exposure to active shop environments, varying ambient temperatures, noise, and physical demands typical of heavy-duty trailer repair.
